Cleaning you home’s dishwasher water filter is an often over-looked task that can help extend the life of your dishwasher and ensure your dishes come out fresh and clean. A dirty dishwasher water filter can clog the pump with large debris and can also recirculate food particles back onto your dishes with every wash. Cleaning the dishwasher water filter should be done every few months to ensure your machine is cleaning as efficiently as possible. And best of all, no tools are needed for this easy task!   1. STEP 1: LOCATE THE DISHWASHER FILTER

    Open the dishwasher to remove all the dishes and slide the drawer out. Look inside your washing machine. On the bottom of the dishwasher, you will see a round filter.

  2. STEP 2: REMOVE THE Dishwasher FILTER

    You will not need any tools to remove the filter. You will simply need to turn the filter counterclockwise. Next, lift the filter out, and place it in the sink. You will also notice a flat-screen on the bottom of the filter; remove that and place it in the sink as well.

  3. STEP 3: CLEAN THE DISHWASHER FILTER

    Use a soft brush to clean the water filter and the screen. When cleaning the water filter, be sure to remove all food residue, debris, and grime. Remember to clean the screen as well.

  4. STEP 4: REASSEMBLE

    Once the filter has been properly cleaned you can reinsert it back into the dishwasher. Place the screen down first, then reinsert the filter by placing it in the hole and turning it in a clockwise direction. Place the drawer back in the dishwasher and close the door. Be sure to clean your dishwasher water filter every few months to ensure proper cleaning of your dishes and the proper functioning of your dishwasher!
